Professional Architect

Being a professional architect means you're a problem solver. You're the kind of person who looks at a building and doesn't just see it as a collection of walls, windows, and doors—you see it as a living, breathing thing that's changing around you every day.

As a professional architect, you're responsible for making sure buildings are safe, functional spaces that serve their communities in the best way possible. You take pride in your work because it's not just about getting things done; it's about making sure that everyone can enjoy what you've created together.

What is a Professional Architect?

Architects design buildings and interiors, including residential and commercial use. An example of such structures are hospitals, schools, and libraries. They also may plan landscape design for public parks or other public spaces.

  • Attending client meetings to discuss design intent, providing feedback on submittals and construction documents, and responding to any questions or concerns the client or engineer raised.

Professional Architect Qualifications & Skills

To become a professional architect, you must complete a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university. You must also have at least four years of experience working on projects similar in scope and size to those you would be expected to take on if hired by an architectural firm or company.

The following is a list of some of the skills needed by architects:

  • Proven experience designing residential and commercial properties, including retail stores, restaurants, schools, offices, and more.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with clients and other team members to ensure that information is relayed on time.
