SUMMARY:
Our client is recruiting for an ITOM Infrastructure Analyst for a 12-month contract. Position based in Johannesburg Northern suburbs.

POSITION INFO:
Purpose:

As the ITOM Infrastructure Analyst within our OT Service Operations team, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting the monitoring tools used to detect, mitigate and resolve infrastructure issues, before they happen. This includes setting up, maintaining, and continuously improving the various monitoring, visualization, alerting, and notification tools, enabling other teams to respond to incidents, as well as providing recommendations for areas of opportunity.
 
Roles and Responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain the tools used by the organization for monitoring, alerting, notifying, and diagnosing issues.
• Configure and continuously improve the instrumentation of our infrastructure.
• Monitor vendor information to ensure tools are updated, secured, and optimally implemented as they change.
• Work with the IT Service Operations teams and organizational leaders to produce meaningful visualizations of the monitoring metrics.
• Provide regular updates and reports associated with SLA adherence.
• Create, update, and maintain the documentation of current and new tools.
• Provide specialized investigation and support.
• Problem isolation and resolution, with the expectation that continuous improvement and enhancements are implemented
• Implement new releases, planned changes focusing on the OT Production environment.
• Manage OT services requests (like new configurations, technical requests).
• Manage knowledge transfer with architecture and project teams for integration technologies.
• Backup policies and restore activities.
• Patch Management.
• Capacity management.
• Flexibility to work during weekends (or on-duty).
• Monitors system tuning and service levels.
• Reports on the performance of service components.
• Maintains operational logs and journals, including monitoring data.
• Maintain all operational and configuration knowledge bases.
• Contribute to service continuity and DR.

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant IT Qualification
• ITIL v4
• Familiarity with network infrastructure, network hardware, server operating systems (Windows and Linux), server hardware, and storage.
• Understanding of SNMP and WMI for obtaining metrics.
• Familiarity with the concepts of Event Logs and System Logs.
• Ability to detect trends in data that may have been overlooked and raise them.
• Ability to visualize data and apply that to create meaningful, engaging, and colorful dashboards.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Op Manager, SolarWinds, APC Schneider Electric.
