SUMMARY:
Our client is recruiting for a Data Steward & System Configuration Specialist for a 12-month contract. Position based in Johannesburg Northern suburbs.

POSITION INFO:
Purpose:

The Data Management & System Configuration role is for a person who has a deep understanding of the business meaning of mining technical data within company and an operating understanding of how these elements are represented in database systems, and how they are related to each other. The Data Steward primarily works with existing structures and ensures their efficient operation for downstream consumption e.g. Analysis, Control, Maintenance.
The new Generation Systems are a Configurable Enterprise solution and it is important to understand and adhere to the company Configuration & Support Standard. This role must be well versed in the company strategy and how the new system suite configuration was implemented.

Key tasks:

Primary responsibilities of the MTS Data Steward & System Configuration Specialist are:

• To ensure correct quality, integrity, accessibility, completeness, timeliness, accuracy, standards of mining technical data.
•  To liaise with business to identify data requirements and potential data sources and ensure that the information meets customer needs.
•  Ensuring good data management practices are applied.
• To ensure data documentation and Metadata Management.
• To ensure he/she has a good understanding of the client data and infrastructure environment.
• To operate methodically over extensive information sets.
• To understand and establish standards and best practices
• To focus on providing value to users and building pragmatic solutions.
• Configuration of the Mine Technical Systems Demand and Configuration Processes.
• To co-ordinate the “Mine Technical system (MineRP) product development life cycle”;
• To take ownership of the company MTS Development Server environment, where all Configuration changes will be trialed & tested, from the User Interface, right through to consumption within all the relevant operational data stores for ALL mining methodologies, i.e. conventional, hybrid, Bord & Pillar and Mechanised.
• To be the Stream Lead and co-ordinate the Mine Technical system Product Release strategy process. Responsible of all upgrades, irrespective of Software and or Configuration changes. From UAT to SAT and promoting changes to the relevant deployments, at all company underground operations.
• To Chair Product Release and leading role within the User Acceptance testing (UAT). Responsible for successful UAT & SAT of upgrades irrespective Software enhancements, bug fixes and or Configuration changes, aligned with OT Release Governance protocols.
• To own the Mine Technical system product Support process and be Responsible for the 1st & 2nd Line support functions / processes as described within the Standards.
• To manage and be responsible for updating the Data Dictionary, data linage, taxonomy of data as part of the Data Dictionary Visualization Framework using a supplied tool to manage and document the Data streams.
• Responsibility for integration to and from the MTS product suite, i.e. HR data, Finance Data from SAP, this would include Magic. Internally export within legacy systems, especially during the transition period. Export/sharing of data to other 3rd Party data consumers via the company operational data stores platform whilst adhering to the Architectural governance, ensuring NO Point-to-Point integration between 3rd Party systems (with exception of Magic where Platform-to-Platform integration required).
• Problem solving first and 2nd Line support, identify gaps / preventative measures to be incorporated preventing re-occurrence thereof. This will include registering all incidents and relevant remedies / learnings thereof. Incidents to be classified as either a People issue (require additional training) Process issue (where process deemed having a gap, to inform relevant stakeholder thereof to update procedure and training material to include preventing re-occurrences) or Product incident, which can be either a Configuration change and or product enhancement, to follow the require process for resolution till issue resolved. Responsible for constant communication with Incident logger and where required informing the relevant Stake Holder.
• To be a product specialist, across the entire range of modules. From Core (Configuration and Administration) to end products used in Draughting, Planning and Survey / Geomatics. Responsible for applying the product knowledge within the articulated company specific configuration per mining method and relevant processes.

• Bachelor''s degree, or equivalent work experience (Postgraduate Preferred)
• 5 to 8 years of experience in Mining and related Data Management
• ICT and/or Mining Engineering degree
• Project Management Qualification (PRINCEII preferred)
• Agile Scrum Master qualification advantageous

• Highly proficient in Data Management principles, methods, techniques & tools
• Highly proficient in mining methodologies and value chain KPIs
• Highly numerate, with strong attention to detail and data management
• Strong supplier & people management skills
• the specific IM field, controls and risk mitigation
• the Region IM objectives and outputs

• High degree of detail orientation when managing data/information.
• Understand required portfolio outputs and how own work contributes
• Make recommendations on how to improve required work outputs
• Problem-solve as a sequence of task steps
• Comply with policy and work frameworks
• To identify and resolve exceptions and escalations
• Must have very good project planning and management skills and ability to develop and manage changes and implementations
• Must have strong client orientation and excellent relationship skills
• The candidate will need ability to prioritize and multitask
• Excellent oral/written communication skills as well as financial acumen
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Previous experience with Clarizen, SAP and Microsoft products advantageous
• Understand how processes are managed and analyzed in a systematic fashion, how processes are integrated in making an organization’s workflow more effective, more efficient, and more capable of adapting to an ever-changing environment.
• To provide input in the development and execution of architectures, policies, practices and procedures that properly manage the full data lifecycle needs of the enterprise during and after implementation.
