Our client has a national footprint that specializes in the innovative operation and management methods of coal fired Boiler plants on behalf of Industrial users is looking for a Qualified Maintenance Fitter who will be reporting to the Maintenance Manager

Position Overview
The successful millwright will be responsible for mechanical duties and breakdowns within Gauteng region including Potchefstroom site and Standerton. The successful candidate will also be responsible for undertaking all preventative and pro-active maintenance on the boiler plant and associated equipment designated to the fitter.

Requirements:

• Matric / Grade 12
• N3 in Mechanical Engineering.
• Red Seal Trade Tested Fitter.
• Minimum 5 years’ post apprenticeship experience.
• Experience with maintenance and operation of pressure equipment (coal & oil-fired boiler plants).
• Willing to serve on the H&S committee.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Availability whilst on standby – Reachable via cell phone at all times.
• Willingness to undergo further training.

• The maintenance of the boiler and ancillary equipment
• Ensure maximum availability of boilers, through planned maintenance and attending to breakdown maintenance timeously.
• Be able to supervise a site and be a team player.
• Know all different types of maintenance.
• Complete planned maintenance job cards, work to be completed by planned dates.
• Breakdowns and callouts to be attended to as a matter of urgency (reaction and completion time)
• Periodic Maintenance to be completed weekly - completed periodic, planned and breakdown maintenance job cards to be submitted to the Maintenance Technician daily.
• Keep workshop tidy, demarcated, storage shelves labelled and neatly packed/Ladders, lifting equipment & electric portable tools, marked & scheduled inspections up to date.
• Boiler house Clean, tidy, painted to company specifications, ladders marked and stored correctly.
• Ensure that SHEQ system is maintained in accordance to ISO.
• General appreciation for policies/procedures; How role contributes to company service.

• Experienced in boilers.
• Basic understanding of VSD operation
• Pumps - fitting & alignment, replacement of mechanical seals, replacement of gland packing, bleeding, flow & pressure tests.
• Motors, gearboxes, - Knowledge of electrical connections.
• Conveyors belt - replacement and alignment of belt, rollers, drives etc.
• Coal Screws & Redlar conveyors: general maintenance.

• Proven ability to solve problems.
• Have a focused approach to mitigating risk.
• Be a self-starter and take initiative.
• Attitude - Accepts instructions, approachable, goes the extra mile, motivated, keeps busy/looks for work.
• Reliable, clocking on time, sick leave, absenteeism, leave balance.
• Appearance - PPE dress code to be neat and adhered to, generally neat in appearance.
