ACCA Qualified Accountant with UK Accounting Practice Experience

Location: Brackenfell, Cape Town
Salary: R70,000 per month

Client: UK-Based Accounting Practice

An established UK-based accounting firm is seeking a highly skilled ACCA-qualified Accountant with extensive UK accounting and Xero experience. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years UK practice experience and at least 6 years of UK tax exposure, including filing tax returns and a deep understanding of the UK tax system. This role is well-suited for a professional who has either:

• Worked in an outsourcing firm in South Africa servicing UK accounting firms, or

• Been directly employed by a UK accounting firm.

About the Role

As an ACCA-qualified accountant, you will manage a diverse portfolio of UK-based clients, delivering comprehensive accounting services, ensuring compliance, and providing valuable financial insights. Youll work closely with UK managers while based in the firms Cape Town satellite office.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports.

• Conduct detailed financial analyses to guide client decisions.

• Manage accounts payable and receivable.

• Ensure full tax compliance and assist in preparing and filing UK tax returns.

• Develop and monitor budgets and financial forecasts.

• Liaise with external auditors during audits and reviews.

• Establish and maintain internal financial controls.

• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.

• Provide financial advice and support to clients and internal teams.

• Stay informed on UK accounting standards and tax regulations.

• Prepare accounts and reports using Xero Accounting Software.

Qualifications & Experience

• ACCA-qualified (essential).

• Degree in Accounting / Finance or related qualification.

• Minimum 6 years of UK practice experience.

• Minimum 6 years of UK tax experience (tax returns, compliance, and advisory).

• Experience working in a South African outsourcing firm servicing UK clients or directly within a UK accounting firm.

• Minimum 3 years of recent experience working in an Accounting Practice.

• Proficient in Xero and other cloud-based accounting systems.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS.

• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• High attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
