ACCOUNTANT

Brackenfell

Reports to: Managing Director

Salary: R25,000 – R35,000 per month

OVERVIEW:

A niche manufacturing business is seeking a Cost Accountant to manage financial accounting, cost control, and management reporting.

The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly management accounts, managing product costing, and ensuring VAT compliance. The successful candidate will provide financial insight to support pricing, budgeting, and operational decision-making within the business.

POSITION INFO:
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Accounting

Maintain accurate accounting records and general ledger integrity
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Ensure financial transactions are captured accurately and timeously

Cost Accounting

Develop and maintain product costing models
Monitor material, labour, and overhead costs
Analyse cost variances and investigate discrepancies

Management Reporting

Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow)
Provide variance analysis and financial performance commentary
Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting

VAT & Compliance

Prepare and submit VAT returns
Ensure compliance with applicable VAT regulations
Maintain audit-ready financial records and documentation

Commercial Support

Provide costing input for quotations and pricing decisions
Review quotation profitability and margin implications

REQUIREMENTS:

3+ years’ experience in an accounting or cost accounting role
Experience preparing monthly management accounts
Strong understanding of costing and financial reporting
Experience preparing VAT returns
Proficiency in accounting software (preferably QuickBooks) and Excel
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

QUALIFICATIONS:

SAICA / SAIPA/ CIMA completed articles advantageous.
Advantageous: Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or an owner-managed business environment.
