POSITION INFO:

ACCOUNTANT (SAIPA) / STELLENBOSCH / WESTERN CAPE - This role will work closely with the Financial Manager to attend to tasks like financial reporting, budgeting, and reviewing of junior accountants’ work.

Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience (property or financial services sector is advantageous).
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

Type of properties in portfolio: Student accommodation, Storage facilities, office, retail, and industrial properties.

Core Soft Skills
• Ability to scrutinize financial data and identify inconsistencies or patterns.
• Comfortable with problem-solving and making sense of complex financial reconciliations.
• High level of accuracy needed when working on reconciliations, tax submissions, and financial statements.
• Manages multiple responsibilities and deadlines—especially important with monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks.
• Prioritizes tasks effectively.
• Deals well with change, e.g., in property portfolio composition or system transitions
• Open to learning new tools or processes.

Responsibilities
• Responsible for preparing and reviewing management accounts.
• Responsible for reviewing salary, prepaid and receipting recons.
• Responsible for preparing reconciliations between two accounting systems monthly, e.g. Sitelink and MRI
• Reviewing VAT201 submissions and YTD recons.
• Responsible for updating and maintaining cash flows and preparing Budget vs Actuals
• Responsible for preparing and reviewing adjustment accounts for properties acquired or disposed
• Responsible for acquisition and disposal journals and capital gain tax calculations.
• Assist with on/-off boarding of properties on MRI
• Responsible for assisting with tax planning.
• Responsible for preparing annual financial statements and assisting with Audit queries.

salary – R30 – R38k (negotiable depending on experience)
