Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Claims Negotiator/Handler for our Marine UMA client.Candidate will need to have adequate marine claims (Cargo, GIT, Logistics) experience ideally within a UMA environment.

Operate full time from our office in Johannesburg Northern Suburbs. Standard hours Mon – Friday 7:30 to 16:30. System we work off is Cardinal.

• Marine Cargo Imports & Exports
• Goods in Transit
• Stock Throughput (Stock in warehouses)
• Warehouseman’s Liability
• Freight Forwarders Liability
• Carriers Liability
• Small Craft

Brief Job Description:

• Process claims according to policy’s terms and benefits
• Validate and determine the claim quantum
• Interpret and apply contracts of carriage, transport agreements, waybills and delivery documents as required for the particular claim
• Appointment and liaison with assessors
• Provide regular claims advice to brokers
• Manage claims cost leakage
• Settlement negotiation
• Collate claims statistics/data for management reporting
• Collate claim advises for Re-insurers and claim recoveries from re insurers
• Approve smaller claims handled by less senior staff
• Handle claims appeals and complaints
• Supervise claims flow and service levels
• Mentor less senior colleagues

Qualifications

RE 5. Minimum 150 FAIS Credits. Relevant Short Term Insurance Qualification. Meets FAIS Fit & Proper Standards.

Skills

Minimum 10 years’ experience in Marine Claims
