Job Description
KEY PURPOSE STATEMENT
The successful candidate must have experience in maintaining the smooth operations of Lodges at a high guest level. He/She must provide leadership to staff, maintain lodge facilities and provide a level of hospitality, ensuring that guests receive the amenities and services which meets the Game Reserve expectations.
KEY OUTPUTS
❖ Provide a welcoming lodge environment for guests with high standards of service, meals and housekeeping which meet the company’s expectations.
❖ Monitor and maintain hospitality service, maintenance, gardening, and housekeeping standards within the lodge.
❖ Manage all staff reporting to the position to effectively assist, train, develop, motivate, and monitor activities. This includes the effective recruitment and disciplining of staff.
❖ Maintain a safe, harmonious, enjoyable workplace environment for staff.
❖ Communicate and report to senior management on a regular basis in line with company requirements.
❖ Produce and maintain staff duty rosters which always provide flexible and effective staffing for the Lodge, day, and night, throughout the year.
❖ Run the Lodge in a cost-effective manner, within the agreed budget; in a manner which is conducive to positive inter-personal relationships between staff; and at a superior level of efficiency.
❖ Effective financial management through the administration of orders and effective stock control
❖ Budget management
❖ Ensure that training is delivered and completed successfully, with a measure of success attached
❖ Enforcement of company policies and procedures
VACANCY NOTICE: LODGE MANAGER
❖ Working knowledge on different types of POS & Booking systems
❖ Financial management ability
❖ Basic understanding of disciplinary procedures
❖ Ability to adapt to a fluid environment
❖ Knowledge of reserve, property, surrounding areas
❖ Performs all duties with the sense of priority and dedication
❖ Passionate about the conservation & hospitality industry
❖ Attentive, assertive yet patient, & friendly
❖ Able to work under pressure
A couple will be considered if partner is a Sous Chef, otherwise single.
Qualifications
❖ Tertiary qualifications in Hospitality, Game Lodge, Tourism or equivalent. ❖ Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management/Hospitality. ❖ Valid Driver’s license
Skills
KEY ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES ❖ Excellent Customer Service. ❖ Experience in a similar environment, and proven track record in managing people. ❖ Experience working in remote areas or locations would be an advantage. ❖ Excellent attention to detail, Computer literate, Strong multi-tasking skills, & Excellent organizational skills❖ Food & Beverage understanding ❖ 7 - 10 years traceable work experience in a bush lodge environment at managerial role ❖ Excellent understanding of housekeeping and maintenance procedures ❖ An awareness of developments, keeping up with current trends within the food and lodge industries
Benefits
Single Accommodation. Work cycles of three weeks on and one week off. Provident fund benefits are combined with risk coverage, which includes funeral cover, group life cover, and income protection. Uniforms and laundry facilities are provided. Own small house with kitchen, bathroom, semi furnished.
