The successful candidate will work on highly reliable, safety-critical and mission-critical application software , predominantly supporting sophisticated Command & Control (C2) and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems . KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop application software for operator-facing, mission-critical systems. Take ownership of software features from requirements through design, implementation and testing . Contribute to both front-end and back-end application development. Research and understand new technical domains and technologies to translate user requirements into effective software solutions. Participate in software production and release activities. Contribute to project deliverables including: Software design Development and implementation Testing and verification Technical documentation Production and verification artefacts Apply formal software engineering processes, plans and development standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and software development teams. Contribute to continuous improvement of software development practices and processes. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Engineering (BSc \/ BEng \/ equivalent). Strong programming ability in C++ or another general-purpose programming language. Strong interest in general C++ software development . Exposure to scripting languages such as Python, Bash or PowerShell . Understanding of object-oriented programming and common software design patterns . Experience with version control systems such as Git, Subversion or Perforce . Exposure to Agile development methodologies and\/or issue-tracking tools such as Jira . Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will be an exceptionally strong academic performer , preferably achieving Cum Laude or close to Cum Laude results . We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate a genuine passion for C++ development through: University projects Personal software projects Open-source contributions Coding projects or portfolios Relevant academic research Other practical C++ development experience Important: The C++ experience should preferably be general-purpose\/application C++ rather than predominantly embedded C++ . A 4-year degree or Bachelor's Degree plus Honours will be highly advantageous. ADVANTAGEOUS EXPERIENCE 2-3 years of relevant industry or postgraduate experience. Modern C++11 or later development experience. Experience with XML, XSLT, XML Schema, JSON or YAML . Master's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering. Exposure to large-scale software development projects. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES Fast learner with the ability to absorb complex technical information quickly. Strong passion for software engineering and technology. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Able to work effectively within a collaborative engineering team.
