Minimum Requirements
- Qualification –BCom Honours (finance related degree),
- CA (SA) will be an added advantage.
- Experience - Minimum of 5 years’ working experience in Finance environment in a large organization, as the Asset Manager.
Main purpose / objective The main purpose of this position is to safekeeping and control of the university assets and to ensure proper record keeping of the assets. To ensure that all university leases are accounted for in accordance with IFRS standards. To ensure the proper insurance practices are followed for all university assets. To ensure proper recording and disclosure of assets into the university’s annual financial statements.
Key job functions 1. Managing and maintaining FAR
Compile and maintain a compliant IFRS fixed asset register
Monthly reconciliation of assets be done and maintained
2) Maintaining an accurate and complete Lease Schedule
· Ensure that all existing and new lease agreements have been added on schedule
· Document handling for all lease agreements
· Complete and accurate lease schedules
3)Maintain Insurance portfolio
· Ensure all university assets are insured timeously
· Liaison person with the university insurers
· Minimize university expenditure on losses
· Understanding of insurance policy terms and conditions
· Develop insurance SOP, and ensure that university community is workshopped on the SOP.
4)Ensuring that Project Assets are accurately classified and transferred to University GL
· Ensure that all Projects Assets are barcoded and brought to FAR in terms of University policies and controls
· Accurate and Complete FAR
· Understanding and correct interpretation of Project Assets MoU''s
5)Financial statements disclosures
· Ensure that physical verification is done on all assets on an annual basis
·Impairment assessments and residual value assessments done on annual basis
·Contract management to determine the correct interpretation of IFRS 16 and disclosure on the AFS
· Depreciation calculation and other disclosure notes to the AFS
