Accountant

SUMMARY:
Our client, a prominent organisation in the wine and beverage sector, is seeking a highly skilled Accountant to join their team.

POSITION INFO:
Area/Location: Western Cape, Stellenbosch

Job Overview:

The accountant is responsible for executing all accounting tasks up to the trial balance level, ensuring balance sheet reconciliations, and managing monthly accruals. This role requires maintaining general ledger accounts by reconciling entries, performing bank reconciliations, managing cashflow, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies. The role also includes managing the brand partner bill back process, ensuring that expenses incurred on behalf of brand partners are accurately recorded and billed back. Strong analytical and process improvement skills are essential.

Professional Requirements:

• BTech in Financial Accounting, BCom, or a similar qualification.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in accounting or finance roles, including accounts payable and cashflow management.
• Effective communication skills.
• Strong proficiency in the full Microsoft Suite (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Outlook, etc.); experience with Syspro software is advantageous.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle large volumes of data.
• Proven ability to efficiently manage tasks and deadlines.

• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Maintain fixed asset registers for all entities within the group.
• Perform reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.
• Ensure timely and accurate posting of system integration journals within Syspro each month.
• Monitor system integrations for errors, discrepancies, or issues and resolve them promptly.
• Manage credit cards for all entities within the group.
• Process all cashbook transactions for domestic and foreign bank accounts.
• Perform bank reconciliations for all accounts.
• Manage debit orders and cashbook entries.
• Prepare cashflow reports and forecasting for all entities.
• Approve transactions in Nedbank Business and Nedtreasury.
• Capture supplier bank details in Syspro.
• Process bank-approved EFT payments and cashflow transfers in Nedbank.
• Update, process, and reconcile inventory.
• Reconcile and submit DA260 and VAT201.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and FICA requirements for all entities.
• Handle ad-hoc projects as required.
• Oversee the brand partner bill back process, ensuring expenses incurred are accurately recorded, reviewed, and billed back.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and validate expense details.
• Regularly review and enhance the bill back process for efficiency and accuracy.
• Support and coordinate audit processes.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Maintain internal controls.
• Work collaboratively with other departments to support business objectives.
