Accountant

SUMMARY:
New role is available for an Accountant for our client in the Property Industry, based in Port Elizabeth.

POSITION INFO:
To manage day-to-day accounting functions, including processing and reconciling financial transactions up to trial balance level. The ideal candidate will be experienced, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently. Formal qualifications are advantageous but not essential—relevant experience will be prioritized.

Possible duties:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
• Perform full bookkeeping function up to trial balance
• Process customer and supplier invoices
• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
• Manage debtors and creditors
• Prepare and process journals, accruals, and prepayments
• Assist with monthly management accounts and reports
• Assist with VAT calculations and submissions
• Support year-end audit preparation and reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards
• Perform ad hoc finance duties as required

• BCom Degree or Diploma in Accounting is an advantage
• Completion of articles is an advantage

• Proven accounting/bookkeeping experience (minimum 3–5 years preferred)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and processes
• Experience with accounting software (Pastel highly advantageous)
• Extensive experience wits SARS and financial statements.
