Accountant

SUMMARY:
Accountant - Manufacturing - Pinetown

Purpose of the position
The candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with South African tax laws, preparing financial reports, and supporting business operations through accurate financial management.
This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of South African financial regulations such as IFRS, GAAP, and SARS tax requirements.

POSITION INFO:
1.Financial Reporting & Record Keeping
-Prepare financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements).
-Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
-Conduct reconciliations of accounts, including bank, creditors, and debtors.

2. Tax Compliance & Regulatory Reporting
-Ensure compliance with SARS (South African Revenue Service) tax regulations.
-Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, UIF, and income tax returns.
-Assist in the preparation of annual tax filings and audits.

3. Budgeting & Financial Planning
-Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting.
-Monitor financial performance and report on variances.
-Provide financial insights to support decision-making.

4. Payroll & Expense Management
-Process payroll and ensure compliance with labour laws.
-Handle employee expense claims and ensure proper documentation.
-Manage accounts payable and receivable.

5. Audit & Internal Controls
-Assist in external and internal audits by providing necessary documentation.
-Implement and maintain strong internal financial controls.
-Identify and mitigate financial risks.

6. Financial Advisory & Strategy
-Provide financial recommendations to management.
-Optimize financial processes for efficiency and cost-saving.
-Assist in investment and funding decisions.

Minimum Requirements:
-Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
-Experience: 3 - 5 years of accounting
-Certifications: SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA, or ACCA certification (advantageous).
-Software Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, Pastel, QuickBooks).
-Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of IFRS, GAAP, and SARS tax laws.
