Accountant

SUMMARY:
Our client is Eastern Suburbs based in the Motor Industry looking for an Accountant with staff management experience

POSITION INFO:

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Management

Invoice clerk

Credit/Cashbook clerk

Proxy

General

Recurring monthly JNLS

Update and manage Fixed Asset Register

Do weekly cash flow forecasting

Annual budgets

Prepare year end and interim files for audit purposes

Sign off all orders

Monthly stock take

Make sure all accounting standards and processes are followed

Reconciliation

Reconcile all banking accounts regularly

Reconcile the various balance sheet accounts

Stock reconciliation

VAT recon

Reports

Prepare monthly management reports

Payroll

Ensure all statutory payments are made

Process salary journal

Cash Book

Review processed cashbooks for accuracy

Collate information received and ensure that it is accurate

Capture payments and beneficiaries

Print bank statements for processing

Reconcile commission sheets

Petty Cash

Manage responsible person

Sign off and check supporting documents

Do weekly checks and counts

Creditors

Prepare payment list and schedule

Sign off creditors reconciliations on a monthly basis

Load monthly payments

Debtors/Sales

Reconcile debtors

Notify sales staff of receipts

Sales/Invoicing

Assist with invoicing where required

Authorize credit notes and cheque payments

Administration

Filing

Attend to adhoc tasks when required

KEY MEASURES:

Accurate and timeous management accounts

Zero audit journals

Limited journal entries

Stock database balances to finance

WHAT SUCCESS WILL LOOK LIKE:

Management information accurate and available

Accounting reports are accurate and done timeously

A professional and efficient image is portrayed

Zero defect on processing

IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIPS:

Constant interaction and team relationship with the General Manager and Director.

PROBLEM SOLVING:

Needs to exercise judgement based on data and logic, within set parameters and guidelines. Daily processing occurs within set procedures.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS:

Knowledge

Diploma/Degree in Accounting

Minimum 3 years relevant work experience

PC Literacy - strong Excel ability essential

Sound knowledge and understanding of accounting principles

Basic understanding and knowledge of related legislation

Pastel experience advantageous

Interpersonal competencies

Communicates clearly and reasons logically (written and verbal)

Able to follow work-related instructions

Interacts in a patient and confident manner
