JOB DESCRIPTION:

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

Assist the Corporate Finance Department with the month end reporting deliverables, financial reporting, insurance claims processing, audits and preparation for the BBBEE verification process.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Assist with month end reporting deliverables
Responsible for the insurance claim process
Prepare the file for the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) verification
Prepare Entity financial reports as/when requested
Preparation and submission of reports to the South African Reserve Bank and Statistics South Africa
Assist with University audits
Adhoc tasks and projects
Monitoring of grant contractual terms

CORE COMPETENCIES

Knowledge and application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Excellent computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel)
Ability to apply and improve policies, procedures, and systems
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Good communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal relationship skills

REQUIREMENTS

BCOM Accounting (Honours) with completed articles at an audit firm
3 years post articles in a finance environment
Registered with an accounting professional body, e.g. South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) would be an advantage
Working knowledge of Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) legislation would be an advantage
