POSITION INFO:
A leading and innovative financial services company is seeking a Financial Accountant for a contract role based in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.

This role is perfect for a finance professional with strong commercial accounting experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, prepare management reports, support audits, and assist with budgeting and cash flow management across multiple subsidiaries. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior finance staff and contribute to the smooth running of finance operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate accounting records in line with IFRS and group policies, including intercompany transactions.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, reconciliations, financial statements, and audit files.
• Support budget preparation, cash flow forecasting, and reporting across subsidiaries.
• Process accounting transactions in Xero, manage supplier payments, VAT reconciliations, and fixed asset registers.
• Respond to audit queries, support statutory compliance, and provide guidance to junior finance staff.
• Monitor balances, classify expenses, and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.

• Education: Accounting degree or CIMA qualification.
• Experience: Solid commercial accounting experience, including IFRS reporting, ideally supporting or managing junior staff.
• Skills: Proficiency in Xero/Fathom is advantageous, strong Excel/Google Sheets skills, high attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Attributes: Collaborative, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a diverse, Africa-focused finance team.
