Accountant (EE)

SUMMARY:
JSE-listed concern,  based in Jhb North, has an opening for a Reporting / Group Accountant to join their team.  Report directly to the Head of Financial Accounting.

POSITION INFO:
Successful incumbent will have a completed Matric / Grade 12, and a B.Com (Accounting), coupled with 8-10 years commercial experience as an Accountant, of which 5 years must have been in managing a small team.  Experience in working as an Accountant at Head Office / Group level ideal.  Duties and responsibilities include: 

• Prepare month end journal entries to be reviewed by HO Financial Accountant.
• Review journals prepared by subordinates.
• Review and authorize all payments in accordance with AP policy.
• Prepare Head Office and subsidiaries trial balances monthly.
• Prepare cost centre reports and analyse variances.
• Prepare monthly Head Office management accounts.
• Update of investment register when required.
• Prepare flash results for Head Office.
• Perform General Ledger month end balancing and closure in Syspro.
• Review sub-module month end closure in Syspro.
• Review of month end closures of minor subsidiary companies.
• Upload financial data into Cognos system.
• Reconcile Balance Sheet reconciliations to be reviewed by HO Financial Accountant.
• Review Balance Sheet reconciliations prepared by subordinates.
• Prepare Quarterly forecasts for Head Office.
• Assist in preparing annual budgets for Head Office.
• Assist with the implementation of IFRS in Head Office.
• Review fixed assets in detail.
• Ensure Taxation legislation is complied with at all times.
• Prepare the Head Office monthly VAT return.
• Prepare the Head Office quarterly tax pack and provisional tax.
• Assist with all Head Office projects and changes as and when required.
• Assist in preparing Annual Financial Statements.
• Upload BBBEE procurement information relating to Head Office.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with Group policies.
• Assist in liaising with Internal and External auditors.
• Assist with adoption of control processes recommended by Internal Audit.
