Accountant - Environmental Industry - West Rand

SUMMARY:
A well-known Environmental Management Company requires the above to be responsible for the full accounting function, processing of financial records and transactions and finance reporting.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements for the role:

• A BComm degree in Accounting or related qualification is essential for this role.
• Previous experience in an Accounting or related role is essential.
• The Company is happy to consider employing someone who has completed their articles for this role.
• Previous experience having worked on VIP Payroll is preferred.
• The successful candidate must be computer literate with intermediate Excel experience.
• Previous experience having worked on Sage and or Pastel Partner - Evolution is preferred.
• Previous experience having worked with stock is essential for the role.
• Must have attention to detail and be well organised.

• Processing all accounting transactions.
• Initiating the transaction to final recording in the Sage Accounting System with month end reconciliations of balance sheet items and analysis.
• Reporting on income statements and providing a management pack with various metrics tracking performance and include a cashflow projection.
• Assisting with financial tasks such as preparation of payments of vendors and suppliers and reconciliation of their statements prior to preparing payments as well as invoicing Customers and credit control.  
• Reporting to the General Manager on accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory control and costing including stock situations.
• Overseeing the procurement processes and processing payroll.
• Managing the bank account and reconciliations.
• Performing credit control including sending of statements and following up on outstanding balances.
• Filling and reconciling EMP 201 and 501 and IRP5 and VAT.
• Preparing monthly management accounts including cashflow statements and financial metrics.
• Preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
• Coordinating internal and external audits.
• Forecasting of collections and metrics analysis reports to Senior Management.
• Capturing of daily supplier invoices (non-stock) and reconciliations of creditors.
• Accurate and timely processing of all supplier invoices and ensuring that they are accurate, approved and SARS compliant.
• Preparing payments for creditors and suppliers on a weekly basis.
• Reconciling bank and petty cash GL accounts in Sage.
• Preparing and maintaining Sage GL accounts for month end pack as per deadlines.
