Accountant (Salaries)

Main purpose of the job:

• To be responsible for the salaries under WHC Core by ensuring that allocations are correct
• Reconcile the salaries to the payroll schedules and follow up on all payroll differences

Location:

• 31 Princess of Wales – Parktown, Johannesburg

Key performance areas:

• Reviewing of monthly payroll before payments are made
• Request information for new employees to ensure complete and accurate allocation of General Ledger accounts to the right Departments within WHC Core
• Draw the appropriate General Ledger using the appropriate allocations within SAGE
• Allocate the GL accounts within the iPay system within the allowed timeline
• Ensure all allocations of salaries are in right GL and are in line with the payroll
• Prepare salaries reconciliation for submission to the Finance Manager within the set deadlines
• Process journals for any errors identified
• Monitor the actual payroll against the budget, investigate the differences & report to the Finance Manager
• Overall balancing of the salaries bank account with payroll
• Accounting processing for salaries-related accounts and reconciliation

Required minimum education and training:

• Diploma/BCom degree in accounting

Required minimum work experience:

• Minimum of 1-year of accounting or payroll experience

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:

• Accounting knowledge related to salaries and allocations with processing experience in SAGE X3 or similar accounting package
• Able to manage own work and be able to work in a team
• Attention to detail is essential with a passion for accurate and complete work
• Able to work methodically and able to perform large recons
• Able to liaise with staff at multiple levels
• Friendly but able to get information timeously
