Take Ownership of Finance Across a Dynamic Investment Group

We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established family investment group for a Group Accountant / Bookkeeper to join their Cape Town office.

This is a hands-on, high-responsibility role where you’ll be involved across the full finance function; from day-to-day processing through to group-level financial management, reporting, and investment support.

Working closely with the CFO, you’ll play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, supporting strategic decisions, and maintaining smooth operations across multiple entities locally and across Africa.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, thrives in a small office environment, and is comfortable balancing structure with flexibility.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience with Pastel Accounting and Pastel Payroll
• Exposure to ERP systems (e.g. Sage Evolution, Odoo, Monday.com)
• Strong Excel and financial processing skills
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently
• High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Comfortable working in a small, hands-on office environment
• Reliable transport and willingness to travel when required
• Openness to running some errands when needed

What You’ll Be Doing

Day-to-Day Financial Operations

• Process invoices, payments, and reconciliations (bank, credit cards, petty cash)
• Manage debtors and creditors, including invoicing and collections
• Ensure accurate allocation of all financial transactions

Month-End & Reporting

• Prepare journals and monthly management accounts
• Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain full month-end documentation and reporting packs

Payroll & Statutory Compliance

• Process full payroll on Pastel Payroll
• Submit and manage VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL, and other statutory returns
• Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and deadlines

Assets & Financial Control

• Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register
• Process depreciation and ensure accurate asset tracking

Group & Strategic Finance Support

• Consolidate financial results across multiple entities
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
• Assist with investment analysis, financial modelling, and capital allocation
• Contribute to fundraising processes and investor reporting

Office & Operational Support

• Assist with office administration and staff coordination
• Manage documentation, filing, and record-keeping
• Liaise with internal teams across different regions
