Accounts Assistant

Computer literacy: at least intermediate level (Ms Office, Pastel)

Be able to work under pressure: deadlines are very tight, accurate reporting is essential.

Strong reconciliation skills.

Strong journal processing knowledge.

Knowledge of the Value Added Tax Act.

Excellent time management.

Excellent communication: good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate clearly in both written and verbal format.

Excellent administrative skills: Be able to work with high level of accuracy.

Team work: Must be able to work as part of a team.

Daily office administration and planning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Responsible for the full accounting function of allocated companies, including but not limited to:

• Preparing monthly management accounts, including analysis and investigation of variances, and summarising data, information and trends.
• Calculation of depreciation and maintenance of the fixed asset register.
• Managing of monthly provisions and accruals of debtors and creditors.
• Monthly reconciliations of account balances.
• VAT calculations and reconciliations.
• EMP501 reconciliations.
• Statutory returns (VAT, Income Tax) and correspondence with SARS.
• Reviewing creditor’s reconciliations.

Intercompany invoicing (calculation and generating) on Pastel and SAGE.

Any other ad hoc duties pertaining to the accounting function.

Qualification

BCom Accounting degree or Accounting diploma will count in you favour.
