Accounts Payable Accountant

SUMMARY:
A prominent family- owned business operating in the FMCG and manufacturing industries is in pursuit of an Accounts Payable Accountant. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately tracking what's owed to suppliers, ensuring payments are properly approved and processing payments. POSITION INFO:

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role
• Wide-ranging accounts payable experience within an accounting role
• Should be able to process weekly payments to over 400 suppliers
• Sage or Pastel proficiency is highly advantageous  
• Must have management experience, will be responsible for managing 4 direct reports

Job description & Skills

• Calculate, post business transactions, process invoices, verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records, and provide other clerical support necessary to pay the obligations of the organization
• Clarify any questionable invoice items, prices or receiving signatures
• Obtain proper information and/or data regarding invoice payments
• Assemble invoices to be completed for payment
• Verify and calculate all extensions and totals on invoices (calculating and taking discounts when applicable),
• Review invoices and requisitions for satisfactory payment approval
• Ensure vendor files for any previous payments and assign voucher numbers
• Maintain copies of vouchers, invoices or correspondence necessary for files
• Prepare vouchers listing invoice number, date, vendor address, item description, amounts and coding per accounting policies and procedures
• Process periodic reports and other records
• Reconciliation of bank statements
