Active Raw Materials Procurement Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client, a large manufacturing company, currently seeks a suitably qualified and experienced Active Raw Materials Procurement Manager.

POSITION INFO:

This role is responsible for:

• Developing and implementing the company’s active raw material strategic sourcing initiatives both nationally and internationally, taking into consideration volume required, quality and price.
• Establishing a credible active raw material supply pipeline to meet and exceed the company’s short and long-term requirements.
• Taking ownership and accountability of developing and sustaining productive relationships with key suppliers.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Relevant Post Graduate qualification.
• MBA an added advantage.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years’ strategic sourcing experience at a Senior level.
• Sound experience in contract negotiation, procurement and sourcing.
• Experience in a pharmaceutical industry an added advantage.
• Experience working in other African countries an added advantage.
• Able to travel within Africa and internationally as and when required. 

Key Performance Areas:

Strategic Procurement:

• Ensure forecast demand availability of active raw materials in accordance with policies, standards, regulations and/or laws.
• Undertake market analysis to identify and/or create new opportunities.
• Undertake feasibility studies.
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and develop approaches to attract them to the company programme.
• Negotiate prices and delivery of materials to produce cost savings, reduce lead times and manage contracts.

Supplier Management:

• Meet with suppliers to manage and monitor service delivery, discuss production forecasts and changes.
• Establish and agree SLAs.
• Develop and manage supplier relationships.
• Maintain vendor database.
• Source and validate new suppliers.
• In conjunction with Demand Manager, establish most appropriate active raw material to procure for company’s needs.
• Participate in supplier audits.

Cost Management:

• Monitor supplier price adjustments factoring into account exchange rate fluctuations.
• Compile annual active raw material budget.

Contract Management:

• Manage and negotiate multi-territory agreements.
• Contract management and administration.
• Negotiate price, delivery and terms of payment.

Transport and Storage:

• Cold chain management of active raw materials.
• Ensure efficient delivery, on-time delivery of active raw materials.
• Select transportation routes to maximise combining shipments or consolidating warehousing and distribution.

Other:

• Develop strong relationships with the internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to company procurement policies, procedures and practices.
• Attend and represent the company at conferences/events that are centred on active raw materials.
