Actuarial Manager

The role provides an interesting combination of technical and business issues and requires a well-rounded individual, who can collaborate effectively with various teams and stakeholders at all levels.

Responsible for managing and coaching a small team of actuarial students and professionals who are responsible for delivering on ongoing product management and the delivery of strategically significant projects for this set of products.

• Understanding the changing regulatory environment, customer needs and market dynamics, and applying this to the ongoing product management of a diverse set of closed retail products.
• Providing strategic input and product support to business segments and working closely with our business unit partners (IT, Servicing, Finance, Legal, distribution channels etc) to deliver on customer promises and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance and adherence to good market conduct principles.
• Management functions include strategy, segment stakeholder engagement (including representing the area in various forums), product enhancements or rationalisation, product support and improving customer value.
• Articulating product requirements to our IT partners and ensuring the accuracy of the resulting output.
• Managing and mentoring a small team of high-performing professionals and building a high-performance team culture.

Qualifications, experience and attributes:

• Qualified Actuary/nearly qualified actuary (exceptional candidates who don’t meet this requirement may be considered)
• At least 8 years’ experience
• 2-3 years’ management experience
• Prior experience working in a Product management or development space would be a distinct advantage
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills
