Actuarial Specialist | Cape Town

POSITION INFO:

Are you a nearly or newly qualified actuary with a passion for precision, data-driven insights, and financial analysis? This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a high-performing team, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping actuarial valuations, financial projections, and regulatory reporting for a respected financial institution.

Key Responsibilities:

Consolidate quarterly valuation results, ensuring accuracy across IFRS, SAM, and Embedded Value (EV) frameworks.
Review and analyze liability and embedded value calculations, verifying assumptions and ensuring results align with expectations.
Conduct profit analyses to guide management in optimizing the business portfolio.
Resolve valuation issues in collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders.
Perform periodic experience investigations and sensitivity tests to refine reporting.
Act as a product owner for designated offerings, ensuring outcomes align with statutory requirements.
Drive process improvements within the valuation team to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Ensure strict adherence to Group practices, policies, and reporting timelines.

Skills & Competencies Required:

Advanced problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
Strong technical actuarial expertise and financial reporting acumen.
Proficiency in data analysis and SQL/database programming.
Exceptional organizational, planning, and time management skills.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Effective stakeholder engagement abilities.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or equivalent.
Nearly or newly qualified actuary, with substantial progress in normative skills towards Fellowship status.

Experience:

Approximately 5 years of relevant experience in actuarial valuations, reporting, or a related domain.
