The University of Fort Hare seeks to appoint
suitable qualified and experienced candidates for the above-mentioned permanent position in the Financial Planning and Budgeting Department. Primary purpose of the position: Assist with coordination of the budget process; by assisting with organising the budget workshops, providing system support and verifying as well as following up on budget submissions


JOB DESCRIPTION:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Finance/Accounting
  • At least 2 years’ experience in Finance (Experience in Budgeting will be an added advantage)
  • 2 years relevant experience in the Higher Education sector
  • Experience in ITS systems or ERP related systems
Competencies:
  • Excellent computer skills (high proficiency in Excel, Word and or Power point)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the different stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently
  • Trend analysis and projections
  • Ability to prepare reports
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to work as a team member
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to analyze budgetary line items for compliance with budget guidelines.
  • Ability to analyze budgetary expenditures for compliance with approved budget.
  • Ability to provide financial and administrative advice, and consultation to faculty and staff.
  • Valid drivers licence would be beneficial
Key Performance areas:
  • Assist in the development of the university budget with the following tasks;
    • Circulates budget guideline documents
    • Assist with organizing budget training workshops
    • Providing iEnabler support
    • Attending to budget related queries by assisting and advising
    • Reviews the budget submissions for any anomalies
    • Ensuring the departmental approved budget on ITS balances to the approved budget as per allocation letter.
  • Monitor expenditure against budget and report variances timeously
  • Performing in depth analysis of actual revenue against the projected revenue
  • Processing of virements as and when necessary
  • Analyzes budget and financial data to identify and report on emerging trends
  • Compiling financial data for reporting for various stakeholder
  • Ensures accurate and timely response to requests for information from constituencies within and outside the institution
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
