Admitted Attorney (Contract to Perm)

SUMMARY:
Candidates will need to have extensive corporate experience in drafting, vetting, negotiating and updating of material legal contracts and associated SLAs, preferably in a Financial Services environment.

POSITION INFO:

Our client is a well known Cape Town based international Financial Services company with an enviable reputation in the marketplace for being a great place to work.

You would be joining a small team of attorneys and reporting to the Legal Executive.

The duration of the contract is negotiable with a view to going perm should it suit both parties.

Candidates will need to have extensive corporate experience in drafting, vetting, negotiating and updating of material legal contracts and associated SLAs, preferably in a Financial Services environment.

High Level View of Responsibilities:

Ensuring the implementation and monitoring of the contract conclusion and sign-off policy

Collaborating with internal teams to provide comprehensive legal advice

Managing legal and reputational risk

Attending to ad hoc litigation matters

Providing advisory services to the business on any relevant Legal areas

Assisting with various Projects and ad hoc audits

Continuously staying abreast of legislative and industry developments

Minimum Requirements:

Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 5 years post articles experience preferably within financial services or top tier law firms 

Expert knowledge of governing legislation (eg: NCA, FAIS, Companies Act etc.)

Sound understanding of South African laws applicable to Financial Services

A strong ability to work independently.
