Agricultural Trader (Trainee)

SUMMARY:
A well-established national business in the food and agriculture sector is looking for a Trainee Trader to join its meat trading team. This is an ideal entry-level opportunity for someone with a BCom Agriculture or similar background who wants to learn the commercial side of the meat industry from the ground up.

POSITION INFO:
You'll start by getting close to the admin, systems, pricing, stock, customer and supplier processes that keep trading moving. From there, you'll grow into a more active trading role, learning how deals are structured, relationships are built, and margins are managed in a fast-moving market. This role suits someone sharp, practical and eager to build a long-term career in the agricultural trading space. Experience is welcome, but attitude, willingness to learn and a genuine interest in the meat trade matter most. Duties \/ Key Responsibilities Assist with trading administration, documentation and follow-ups Support traders with pricing, orders, stock information and market updates Liaise with internal teams, customers and suppliers Learn the full meat trading process from admin through to deal-making Build industry knowledge and progress into a trading-focused role Requirements Interest in agriculture, meat trading, food supply or commodities Strong admin skills and attention to detail Comfortable working with numbers, pricing and commercial information Previous experience in agriculture, food or trading would be advantageous Fully bilingual (Afrikaans \/ English) Education BCom Agriculture or similar qualification preferred Strong academic background helpful, but not the only deciding factor Soft Skills Eager to learn and grow Confident communicator Practical, reliable and organised Commercially minded with a good work ethic Remuneration The proposed salary for this entry level role is R15k - R20k per month - the final offer will depend on qualifications, experience and skills.
