Android Developer

SUMMARY:
Our client in the business of local and international payment solutions is looking for an well versed Android Developer to join the development team. In this role, you will be working in a SCRUM team to create new functionality and adapt existing functionality on multiple apps that are used by internal staff. The apps are used for customer onboarding, order creation and order collection across.

POSITION INFO:

NB: Expericen with Flutter  is key for this role. 

Candidates with the folowing attributes will be ideal  fro this role: 

• Experience in building mobile apps using the latest technologies 
• Programming either in Java or Kotlin, using the core functionalities in Android architecture components
• Working in an Agile SCRUM team to design, develop and integrate native mobile applications and scalable enterprise solutions
• Work as a part of the team
• Creative and critical thinking that contributes to the success of your environment
• Solid Experience in App development, web development  and app infrastructure 

Key Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• 4-5 years’ experience as an Android Developer
• Experience in and/or have a good understanding of building apps for environments with limited network connectivity
• Experience with different types of architecture: MVC/MVP/MVVM
• Working knowledge and experience with: JSON REST APIs, Scanning technologies.
• (EAN, PDF, MRZ, OCR), Android persistence layers (Preference, File, SQLite), Firebase & Google APIs, Publishing to Google Play, Unit & Automated testing techniques for Android apps. (JUnit, Expresso, UI Automator)
• Good technical knowledge of Java, Kotlin, Gradle and Android Studio
• Understanding of design patterns and experience in architecting software
• Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills
• Experience in architecting, developing, testing, deploying systems
• Solid understanding of integration and web services
• Strong analytical skills
• Being passionate about learning new skills, technologies, and best practices

None Negotiable Skills Required: 

• Flutter development experience
• Experience configuring and setting up CI/CD
• Mobile application security best practices

NB: The role is based at Pretoria, but the incumbent will be working remotely. The successful applicant must be willing to rotate working  at Pretoria and remotely as per business requirements.
