Apache Tomcat Application Support Administrator

SUMMARY:
We're hiring an experienced Apache Tomcat / IBM WebSphere Application Support Administrator for a leading bank. In this long-term role (36 months FTC), you'll monitor and maintain critical Java web applications, check logs, escalate issues to dev teams, perform Java/Tomcat upgrades, and support ETL process monitoring.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements

• Experience in working in a production support environment
• Knowledge of SQL and database monitoring
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP) a plus
• Experience with IBM Websphwere | Apache Tomcat administration and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of Java applications and application server management
• Familiarity with ETL processes and data integration monitoring
• Experience with log monitoring tools (e.g. Dynatrace, ELK Stack, Splunk, or Graylog)
• Basic AIX | Linux system administration and resource monitoring
• Ability to analyse application logs and identify root cause of issues
• Experience with automation scripts for monitoring and maintenance a plus

• Conduct Application Monitoring and Support on new and existing payment application systems
• Ensure regular application updates and upgrades are done timeously according to security requirements
• Diagnose and resolve software application issues and challenges
• Monitor the system for potential issues, and address them proactively before they become major problems
• Work closely with the development team to identify and implement system improvements
• Document application support activities and tasks for future reference and analysis
• Collaborate with other IT professionals and developers to address and solve technical problems
• Assist in the installation and updating of software applications
• Adhere to change control and release management processes of the organisation
• Create and update debugging procedures and operating manuals using the standard template to ensure effective system support
• Consistently provide IT solution maintenance and support in the designated area thereby ensuring business continuity in line with the agreed service standards
• Actively participate as a team member and drive the team towards the completion of goals
• Perform the operational activities in place with service management best practices for the supported business areas, thereby ensuring that all supported SLAs are maintained i.e. monitoring checks, monitoring of service management tools, incident reports etc.
