POSITION INFO:
Our client currently has an opportunity for an Applications Engineer in their Lubrications division.
In your role will be responsible for the following:-
Based on customer’s needs, promote and support the Company know-how and value proposition in line with strategy.
Propose technical solutions in cooperation with the sales force.
Manage technical relationships with customers, including responding to enquiries, handling complaints and evaluating technical risks.
Bring a strong technical expertise into the market and be involved in internal and external technical trainings.
Design, manage and deliver Bearing arrangements, Lubrication systems, Condition Monitoring Systems, Sealing solutions and bundled offerings according to customer requirements.
Manage technical projects in direct contact with customer or as support for local units and brings wide and deep knowledge acquired on one or several industries/ business areas.
Assure the project is delivered in due time, with right cost and quality.
The successful incumbent will hold a formal Engineering qualification together with 2-3 years in a technical support role at customer facing level as well as 2-3 years of product engineering.

Perform cost estimates and calculations on solutions offered as part of the quotation process.

Actively determine and pursue profitable business opportunities for Company products and services by analysing customer and market needs.
Increase sales of Company products and services by providing technical assistance to key customers and establishing and maintaining good relationships with Engineering and other technical personnel at these customers.
Support sales by providing technical assistance with regards to the selection, application and proper use of Company''s full range of products.
Re-design equipment where the customer has experienced problems with the existing Company''s product based arrangement or where new Company technology can be incorporated to improve production efficiency and lead to cost reductions.
Design or develop new solutions for customers.
Deliver Company products, services or bundled solutions sold to customers by providing effictive engineering, project management or other professional services.
Manage, measure and interact with suppliers of engineered products.
Generate General Assembly, layout and concept drawings for quotation purposes which could be developed into final solutions by the inhouse draughting resource.
Keep up to date with latest product knowledge and developments.
Perform training on Company''s products and services for inhouse, distributor, branch and customer personnel.
Continuously develop and improve capabilities for integrated services delivery.
Plan effective and optimised resource utilisation and allocation against service delivery and project requirements, including cost control programs on engineered products and project deliveries.
Adhere to all applicable company policies and procedures.
Encourage and implement process improvements.
Ensure effective teamwork and working in a seamless manner with all service delivery, customer services and sales functions.
Communication
Continuous communication with customers and distributors.
Responsible for continuous communication with the sales teams regarding projects under development, delivery progress and availability of resources.
Perform presentations/ training at customers, external training seminars, colleges and tertiary institutions.
Market Intelligence
Actively visits customers to understand the market trends and needs, to support in projects and to be able to develop further the Company portfolio.
Contribute to market intelligence by maintaining a broad and up to date knowledge on competitor activities, market drivers and external influences on the distributors and Company business.
Contribute to market intelligence by maintaining and growing a network within the global Application Engineering community.
Uses Siebel, REP centre database and other internal tools to expand the understanding of the business and its opportunities.
Team up with local sales team and global Application Engineering network to develop business opportunities locally working globally, supporting each other and making them to work together and collaborate to achieve successful and quick results.

Qualifications

Experience and knowledge
A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in technical support at customer facing level.
A minimum of 2-3 years of product engineering; either Application, Project or Design experience.
Knowledge of engineering draughting and associated management systems.
A systematic, logical and analytical approach to problem solving and decision making.
Ability to present findings and recommendations to management via reports and presentations.
Excellent planning, organisational and administrative skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills – English.
Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with customers at all levels.
Desirable
Experience working across technologies, i.e. bearings, seals, tribology, CoMo, lubrication systems, etc. with technical, engineering and commercial knowledge of these fields.
Professional associations and memberships.
Strong relationships with supply chain up and downstream.
