Applications Manager IT

SUMMARY:
An experienced Applications Manager to take ownership of the Applications Support function for the African region. A strategic and tactical role that will look at operating effectiveness as well as longer term planning to ensure the most value is extracted from the applications landscape.

POSITION INFO:

Essential Functions Responsibilities

• The fundamental task of the application manager is determining whether the computer systems in the company are sufficient for their business requirements.
• Leading the analysis and design phase of all the digital transformation projects
• Collaborate with architects, developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance needs.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key customers at all levels to understand the goals, drivers and processes of the business units within the organization.
• Participate in strategic planning sessions with senior management and identify initiatives aimed at addressing the Application needs of ERG Africa.
• Influence business decisions, processes and systems to achieve strategic goals
• Develop tactical plans and budget requirements that support the strategic objectives
• Ensure the applications landscape and underlying technologies remain current, in order to avoid technical risk and maximize supplier investment into applications
• Investigate and compare new technologies and applications to assess potential added value.
• Implement, manage and comply with the IT Governance framework
• Prepare and review maintenance and service contracts with external suppliers.

• Actively partake in and contribute towards the longer-term architectural and system roadmap, ensure changes introduced hold true to the roadmap;

Qualifications & Experience

• An applicable tertiary B-degree a must.
• 5 years’ applicable experience
• Background in Microsoft stack product sets that form the underlying structures of most applications in ERG
• Experience in managing applications in an enterprise environment
• Experience in managing an ERP environment
• Project management
• ITIL certification
• Microsoft Azure experience
• Architectural understanding of cloud-based applications/services
• Mining Sector-based experience
• Business analyst certification
