AREA MANAGER
EAST LONDON
Our client is seeking an experienced Area Manager to oversee operations across a demanding region of 13 stores. Due to close Head Office oversight, the successful candidate must consistently maintain exceptional store performance and operational standards. The Area Manager will partner with the Operations Manager to drive excellence, support informed business decisions, and achieve regional performance goals. Key responsibilities include strategic planning, operational execution, team leadership, and continuous evaluation of store performance to ensure strong results across the area.

RETAIL
Minimum skills and experience required:
- Minimum 5 years' experience as an Area Manager in clothing retail
- Strong leadership abilities with proven staff management and performance-driving capability
- Excellent communication skills across all organisational levels
- High attention to detail, strong work ethics, integrity, and exceptional timekeeping
- Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Valid Code 8 driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively
- Post-matric qualification is advantageous
Duties and Responsibilities:Asset Management
- Ensure stores (interior and exterior) are neat, tidy, and fixtures are maintained
- Coordinate janitorial and repair services
Stock Control
- Accountable for all stock, shortages, and overages
- Control inventory levels and replenishment
- Identify slow sellers and implement corrective action
- Develop stock loss action plans
Merchandising
- Mange merchandise assortments (quality and quantity)
- Coordinate shelf layout, seasonal displays, and sale displays
- Identify new promotional ideas
- Maintain housekeeping standards and consistency across stores
Marketing and Sales
- Implement marketing promotions to maximise sales opportunities
- Achieve and exceed sales targets
- Participate in promotions and stay informed on competitor pricing / products
- Provide sales leadership to staff
Admin and Cash Management
- Ensure store administration meets company standards
- Ensure correct cash handling procedures and verify documentation daily
- Manage controllable expenses to maximise profitability
Staff Management
- Assign employees to duties
- Motivate, assist, train, and develop staff
- Manage performance and enforce disciplinary action
- Recruit temporary staff when necessary
Security
- Ensure adherence to all security procedjures
- Monitor and manage security teams to ensure optimal performance
Customer Service
- Display excellent customer service and communication skills
- Train taff on customer service standards
- Assist with customer complaints and enquiries
- Continuously enhance customer satisfaction
