POSITION INFO:
Are you a skilled and motivated mechanic with experience working on Volvo trucks? Our client is looking for a dedicated Assistant Fleet Mechanic/Mechanic to join their team and support the maintenance and repair of their growing fleet. In this hands-on role, you’ll work alongside experienced technicians to ensure our Volvo trucks remain in top condition—delivering reliability, safety, and performance on the road. Minimum requirements:
- Valid driver's License (Code 14 would be advantageous)
- Reliable transport
- Fluent in Afrikaans
- Trade test as a Diesel Mechanic
- Minimum 5-10 years' experience in a similar role
- Must be willing to be on standby on weekends (if necessary)
Required skills:
- Proven experience in the maintenance and repair of Volvo trucks or similar heavy-duty commercial vehicles
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, suspension, and transmission systems
- Ability to perform diagnostics and fault-finding using electronic diagnostic tools and software ( for example, Volvo Tech Tool)
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance procedures and safety inspections
- Competence in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system repairs
- Skilled in using a variety of hand and power tools
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins
- Good time management and ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship
- Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices and compliance standards
Remuneration:
R 25 000 - R 30 000 Cost to Company
