JOB SUMMARY:
Our client, a water and wastewater treatment company is recruiting an Assistant Plant Operator for their plant in Springs, Gauteng (willing to work shifts and weekends).

Main role:
This person will be responsible to monitor the performance of the plant within a shift period; do the required water analysis, compile and issue relevant reports; adjust the parameters of the plant in order to achieve the required water quality and quantity; strive to minimise the consumption of chemicals and electricity; liaise with the Plant Supervisor to implement specific instructions; report maintenance activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements:

Matric
Process Controller Class III registration
Experience in water treatment, wastewater or biogas
Experience as a lab technician would be an advantage
Willing to work in shifts and weekends

Responsibilities:

Primary goal: Control and monitor all operational activities on the plant within a shift period
Collect samples and complete analyses in the site laboratory as per the prescribed monitor program
Report analyses results to the Plant Operator
Ensure that the laboratory is neat and tidy after the analyses are completed
Ensure that sample bottles are washed and stored
Report preventative & corrective maintenance on plant equipment as encountered.
Monitor and control plant operations as per instruction from the plant operator
Perform manual operations and process interventions as per the prescribed operative procedures on instruction of the plant operator
Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines aligned with the Occupational Health & Safsite-specifically as site-specific Method statements, Risk Assessments & SHE Protocol.
Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives
Identify ways to improve efficiency and plant operation cost effectiveness
Respond appropriately and decisively during plant emergencies
Carry out specific tasks & instructions as directed by the Plant Operator
Ensure total confidentiality of all information, internal and external, pertaining to the business of the Company
