Assistant Transport Operations Manager, Windhoek

SUMMARY:
Our national client in the Supply Chain sector is seeking to appoint an Assistant Transport Operations Manager to join their Windhoek branch. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in transport and logistics, supporting the effective management of daily processes, staff supervision, and ensuring operational efficiency. This role requires a hands-on individual with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

POSITION INFO:

• Road Transport qualification will be an advantage
• Knowledge of the Transport / Logistics sector essential
• Relevant driving experience will also be considered
• Advanced Excel, TNT, Mix Telematics - essential
• Must be available to work shifts and have their own reliable transport
• All transport operations during shift
• Despatching the fleet according to schedule, including drivers and the correct size vehicles
• Coordinating changes whenever necessary eg. absentee drivers, vehicle break-downs and when changes are made to the despatch schedule to accommodate additional and split loads
• Ensuring the fleet returns according to schedule
• Reporting all queries from stores on handover of shift or following up on problems from the previous shift
• Day to day management of the whole transport department
• Reporting break-downs and initiating the relevant service to resolve these
• When unresolved reporting in the matter to the Maintenance Manager
• Controlling all the registers in the office - key controls and attendance registers
• Reports all problems to the operations manager
• Staff discipline and all related procedures when necessary
• Assisting elsewhere if required
