CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

Is to create, develop and facilitate the acquisition of musical knowledge and skills by individuals in order that they can function effectively within the music profession and as productive members of the broader society.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• To teach in the specialist area of Music Technology, inclusive of, acoustic theory, psychoacoustic theory, audio engineering, multimedia technologies, recording and production, programming, methodology of technology, technology in teaching, and sound and interaction design.
• To manage the Music Technology studios and equipment.
• To utilize subject-related research methods.
• To facilitate the learning and teaching in the department.
• To conduct and publish research or produce appropriate performances and creative outputs.
• To perform academic and music engagement.
• To perform administration.

CORE COMPETENCIES

• • Demonstrable knowledge of Music Technology and the application of Music Technology in learning and teaching at the relevant level.
  • Proven experience (2 years in the case of lecturer, 1 year in the case of associate lecturer) at facilitating learning at undergraduate level.
  • Ability to contribute to the creation of knowledge and music performance and the potential to contribute by virtue of publications or appropriate creative outputs, and the ability to supervise postgraduate candidates.
  • Proficiency in maintaining and managing Music Technology studios and equipment.

REQUIREMENTS

In order to be considered for appointment to this post at lecturer level, candidates should have a specialisation in Music Technology and/or industry related experience in the field, with a Master’s degree and 2 years of lecturing experience. Supervision experience will be beneficial. At associate lecturer level, candidates should have a Master’s degree and one year of lecturing experience and/or industry related experience in the field.
