- Facilitate learning and teaching in a blended learning approach at undergraduate and postgraduate
POSITION INFO:
CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
To facilitate and administer the learning and teaching process for students in modules presented by the Nelson Mandela University, within the School of IT, at undergraduate level and postgraduate level, to do research, contribute to community engagement and to be involved in the core functions of the University.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Facilitate learning and teaching in a blended learning approach at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
• Contribute to the creation of knowledge by virtue of postgraduate studies, postgraduate supervision and research and innovation.
• Perform academic administration.
• Incorporate trends with regard to learning and teaching to ensure a student-centred learning experience.
• Maintain relevant and up to date learning and teaching material by integrating latest IT/technology trends.
• Participate in projects targeted at community service and engagement.
• Participate and contribute to programme and curriculum reviews
CORE COMPETENCIES
• Possess sound knowledge of the theory and application of Software Development and Software Engineering.
• Ability to facilitate learning at undergraduate and post graduate level in Software Development and Software Engineering.
• Ability to synthesize information to design learning experiences.
• Must have excellent organizational and time management skills as well as strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Has the potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge by virtue of publications and the successful supervising of Masters and/or PhD Candidates.
REQUIREMENTS
Associate Lecturer
Relevant M+4 qualification [BTech, PGDip, Honours or other equivalent qualification] [a relevant Masters will be advantageous]
A minimum of 1 year relevant /related working experience is required.
Experience with Internet programming, Python, C#, and database design is advantageous
Having both lecturing as well as industry experience is an advantage.
Recommendations
Being part of a research team or registered for a Doctoral qualifications
Peer reviewed accredited research output
Participation in postgraduate supervision and conferences
Engagements with industry, the discipline or community related projects.
