POSITION INFO:

A career development opportunity has become available for an Associate/Senior Associate to join the Finance & Banking Department of Attorney at the Cape Town or Johannesburg office.
The successful applicant will be involved in a diverse array of Banking & Finance (including preference shares and project finance/renewable energy) matters across a spectrum of clients in various industries, in a busy practice. This is an opportunity to enhance current skills, gain excellent hands-on experience to large matters and at the appropriate level. The successful incumbent will also have the advantage of training and mentorship from seasoned professionals in this field.
The ideal candidate should have experience in all areas of Banking & Finance Law, and have the ability to multi-task and deal with numerous different matters running at the same time. Strong verbal and written communication skills and a passion for Finance & Banking law is essential. A good work ethic, an ability to conceive strategy, exercise initiative and take responsibility, together with the capacity to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and busy practice, are essential.
Main Responsibilities
• Drafting of agreements, legal opinions, resolutions and legal correspondence;
• Advising and consulting with clients on Finance & Banking law;
• Mentoring and training of juniors;
• Legal research;
• Participation in the marketing of the team which might include participation in presentations and seminars.
Qualifications and Experience
• An LLB or equivalent qualification
• Admission as an Attorney in South Africa
• At least 2 years'''''''' PQE in Finance & Banking department of a large law firm.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
• Good Finance & Banking Technical knowledge;
• Excellent research & drafting skills;
• Self-starter with ambition, adaptability and resilience;
• Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment;
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written;
• Prioritising, organising and time management skills;
• Client relationship management.
