SUMMARY:
Provision of Audit Managerial services to a portfolio of insurance clients in the Financial Services Group division. Responsible for the execution of the risk-based audit approach and leading audit teams during the fieldwork. In addition, you will have the opportunity to provide a variety of non-assurance services to insurance clients as determined by the relevant insurance related regulations

Job Responsibilities
- Actively driving the planning of the audit, as well as the actual fieldwork at interim and final, statutory audit and completion work
- Supervising, mentoring, and coaching junior staff including promoting audit quality
- Shows breadth and depth of technical and professional standards to run and support tasks within own team
- Managing partner involvement on audits, providing progress reports as required
- Manages different clients’ expectations, building relationships and involving other stakeholders in the firm
- Acting as the initial point of contact throughout the year for your clients
- Ensures commercially viable returns by managing the team to agreed targets
- Budgeting and monitoring the financial performance of engagements, focusing on optimising profitability
- Communicates increasingly complex information to a range of audiences using different media
- Regularly and enthusiastically communicating with senior clients on relevant industry matters
- Manages an environment that supports continuous learning and development, seeking feedback and development opportunities to develop

Knowledge of Insurance related regulation, IFRS Principles:
Apply in-depth knowledge of accounting theories and principles and financial systems design. Recognize complex and unique issues and develop resolution and/or consult with leadership in order to achieve resolution; consistently serve as a technical resource.
Governance, Risk and Control
Examine and analyse complex financial statements. Institute changes based on findings. Recommend actions or alternatives to be taken by management when accounting data discloses unfavourable trends or deviations or financial mismanagement. Manages project financials, including budgets, WIPS, timely billing, collection and variance recognition.
Decision Making, Problem Solving:
Independently resolve and/or develop recommendations for unprecedented, complex issues and problems. Serve as a resource for others in resolving unprecedented, non-standard issues and problems. Anticipate problems and develop recommendations for resolution.
Communication:
Convey concise, comprehensive, and accurate findings on matters of a complex nature in written form. Conclusions and recommendations are based on professional knowledge and judgment. May consult and/or negotiate with Director body/external entities for the purpose of funding levels, cost allocations, or related financial issues
Qualifications
CA(SA)
Experience
- 3+ years (post articles) of external audit experience of which 3 years spent on managing external audits, ideally with exposure to financial services and insurance sectors. Working Knowledge of IFRS, particular IFRS 4, IFRS 9 and IFRS 17.
- 3 years’ experience in auditing insurance returns required by the Prudential Authority.
