Automation Lead

SUMMARY:
We are hiring a Senior Automation Technician for a permanent position at our client's Pretoria location. This on-site role involves installing and programming electrical and automation systems, troubleshooting PLCs and robotic systems, and supporting project success.

Candidates need a Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant trade certificate, proven PLC and robot programming experience (preferably in the automotive sector), and skills in fault-finding and electrical drawings. Willingness to travel and work overtime is essential.

POSITION INFO:
Our client in the Automation industry is looking for a Senior Automation Technician to join their team in Gauteng, Pretoria.

Requirements:

• Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
• or Relevant trade certificate (Electrical, Millwright or Mechatronic).
• Demonstrated experience in PLC programming and robot programming, ideally in the automotive sector.
• Experience with the following is highly beneficial:
• Kuka Robots, Beckhoff and Siemens PLCs.
• Expertise in various programming languages.
• Robust fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Understanding of mechanical and electrical installation procedures.
• Capable of reading and interpreting electrical drawings.

• Readiness to travel to client sites as required (including abroad for extended periods, e.g., 3 months).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Capacity to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic setting.
• Readiness to work overtime when needed.

• Carry out installations of electrical and automation systems.
• Work closely with the installation team to guarantee project success.
• Develop and update project documentation and reports.
• Program and resolve issues in PLCs and robotic systems.
• Perform fault identification and debugging on automation and robotic systems.
• Help with mechanical and electrical installations when necessary.
• Offer mentoring, training, and assistance to junior team members.
• Combine different automation equipment.
