Avionics Systems Engineer – Somerset West

POSITION INFO:

Duties and Responsibilities:
As the Avionics Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Participating in the design and development of multiple aerospace projects using a tailored systems engineering approach.
• Compiling Statements of Work for contracted electronic design engineers for avionics subsystems design, manufacture, and delivery.
• Organizing and overseeing the review of avionics subsystems'' designs.
• Overseeing the compilation of mission firmware design specifications by developers.
• Compiling functional requirement specifications for in-house developed avionics subsystems.
• Managing the design and development of test bench appliances and Windows subsystem test applications.
• Commissioning test bench appliances and Windows test applications.
• Creating subsystem test procedures for verification testing of avionics subsystems.
• Performing verification testing and integrated system verification testing on avionics subsystems.
• Ensuring configuration control of avionics hardware and firmware.
• Providing ongoing guidance to avionics engineers and firmware developers.

Overseas travel to client sites may be required from time to time.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Minimum B.Eng degree in Electronics Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in the military and/or commercial industries, applying systems engineering principles and methodologies.
• Experience with GENESYS systems engineering modelling platform (SDL-based) is advantageous.
• Knowledge of/experience with managing DO-160G environmental testing (EMI, EMC, vibration, shock, etc.) is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with electronics prototyping and C firmware coding (STM32).
