Job Description
Primary Purpose of the Job -Taxation administration, reporting and compliance for the Group.
Key Performance Areas (KPA’s)
Taxation
o Responsible for all tax administrative duties of Group.
o Preparation of tax computation for all entities in the Group, including REIT related calculations and controlled foreign companies.
o Preparation and/or review of company and Trust tax returns (provisional, final income tax and VAT).
o Prepare supporting documentation for tax returns and other requests from SARS.
o Review & advice human resources on employee taxes.
o Deal with voluntary disclosure program requests, penalties, objections and other mechanisms.
o Provide tax advice on new transactions and tax issues.
o Liaise with internal and external auditors and address their queries.
o Keep abreast of changes and anticipated changes in tax legislation and determine its impact.
o Delegate to junior tax accountant to meet objectives.
Reporting (quarterly and/or bi-annually)
o Calculate and journalize normal and deferred tax and prepare disclosures for Group and company annual financial statements.
o Prepare the distribution pack on a quarterly basis (includes tax computation, REIT distributable income calculation and reconciliations).
o Prepare tax submission to the audit committee and board on a quarterly basis.
Management accounting
o Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
o Review processes for business units
o Assist with adhoc monthly requests and projects
Budgeting & Forecasting
o Assist with budgeting process for various business units from a tax perspective.
Qualifications
• Chartered Accountant (SA) (essential) • Postgraduate tax qualification H.Dip (Tax), M.Com(Tax) or equivalent (desirable)
Skills
• Minimum 3 years (post articles) company income tax and VAT experience (essential)• Experience with REIT tax (desirable)
