BESS engineer

POSITION INFO:

As demand for flexible energy solutions grows, we're expanding our engineering team and are looking for an experienced and innovative BESS Design Engineer to join us.

Role Overview:
As a BESS Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and supporting the development of advanced battery storage systems from concept through to commissioning. You’ll work across multiple departments including R&D, procurement, and project delivery, ensuring technical excellence in system architecture and integration.
Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop complete BESS solutions including battery packs, PCS, EMS, thermal management, and safety systems
• Prepare system-level layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and technical specifications
• Perform electrical, thermal, and mechanical design reviews
• Conduct sizing, performance modeling, and cost-benefit analysis of BESS projects
• Collaborate with OEMs, EPCs, and utility clients to ensure design meets functional and regulatory requirements
• Stay updated on industry standards (e.g., UL9540, IEC 62933, NFPA 855) and emerging technologies

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related discipline
• 3+ years of experience in energy storage system design or a related field
• Strong understanding of Li-ion battery technologies and energy storage applications
• Proficiency in electrical CAD tools and system modeling software (e.g., ETAP, HOMER, MATLAB/Simulink)
• Familiarity with BESS control strategies, interconnection requirements, and safety codes
• Strong analytical and communication skills
