BOOKKEEPER / ACCOUNTANT

SUMMARY:
Urgently seeking an experienced Bookkeeper for a 9 month contract position in the Linbro Park area.

POSITION INFO:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join our team on an 9-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full bookkeeping function, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, and maintaining compliance with all statutory and internal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Banking & Reconciliations

• Process daily bank transactions and perform weekly bank reconciliations
• Manage multiple accounts, including local (ZAR) and foreign currency (USD) accounts

Financial Administration

• Administer and reconcile company credit cards, fuel, and vehicle maintenance cards
• Prepare monthly journals, including forex revaluation (bank, accounts payable, and receivable)
• Maintain the fixed asset register
• Assist with month-end close processes and reporting

Payroll & Employee-Related Functions

• Prepare commission and incentive reports for sales representatives
• Administer allowances and expense claims
• Manage staff-related deductions (e.g., telephone bills)
• Distribute monthly payslips
• Assist employees with pension fund, UIF, and share-related queries

Statutory Compliance & Submissions

• VAT reconciliation and submission via eFiling, including audit compliance
• EMP201 (Employee Tax) submissions
• UIF submissions and Department of Labour compliance
• Monthly pension fund and medical aid submissions

Sales & Operational Support

• Analyse sales representatives’ performance (expenses vs. sales)
• Administer rebate, cashback, and related reporting programmes
• Facilitate travel-related processes, including carnet administration for international travel
• Support fleet-related requirements and vehicle maintenance authorisations

Creditors & Supplier Support

• Assist with local and foreign creditor reconciliations
• Support supplier onboarding, procurement comparisons, and payment allocations
• Facilitate loading and approval of new supplier banking details

General Administration & Reporting

• Prepare and maintain monthly reports
• Manage staff leave records and general HR-related administration
• Ensure proper filing and record-keeping of all financial documentation
• Assist with annual audit preparation and ad hoc financial queries
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and head office procedures

Requirements

• Proven experience in a Senior Bookkeeping / Accounting role
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with foreign currency transactions and reconciliations
• Proficiency in eFiling and statutory submissions (VAT, PAYE, UIF)
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
