Backend Developer (Ruby on Rails)

SUMMARY:
An established online financial services technology company is looking for an ambitious and results-driven Senior Ruby/Ruby on rails Web Developer.

POSITION INFO:

The RoR Developer will be joining a dynamic team of highly skilled front and back end developers to assist in the integration and quality assurance of the clients existing iterations. The RoR Developer will also work with internal partner engineers around the world to ensure the clients customers have a great experience.

Client Details

The organisation is in the financial services space specialising in credit and lending financial systems. The organisation were the early pioneers of online lending in South Africa. They have evolved to become a mass online loan underwriter with new Fintech opportunities.

Description

Lead and deliver the integration into new partner services from the analysis phase though the integration design until go live and post-delivery monitoring:

• Solution and develop ad-hoc solutions outside of the box for some special projects
• Monitor and measure the quality of service of existing partners that are already integrated to the platform
• Expand internal monitoring, reporting and operational tools and processes
• Drive partners integrating to our network providing technical expertise and support.

The candidate will be handling integration and support through activities and tools such as:

• APIs, Mobile Application Development (Andriod Suite) ;
• Monolib; .
• In addition, Node (JavaScript), PHP and Python would be considered; Script writing with MySQL and SQL stacks.

Profile

• Formal education in Computer Science or Software Development
• Insurance or Financial Services background
• Knowledge of IT QA processes and protocols
• Knowledge in Backend Development for Fintech operation
• 5+ years Back End Development using Ruby on Rails
• 7+ years working with Databases and a good understanding of SQL
• Vue.js , JavaScript (ES6) , HTML5/CSS, NodeJS
• API design, develop, maintain and consume (SOAP, REST, JSON)
• Experience in writing test scripts using RSpec
• Extensive knowledge of Design Patterns (MVC etc.)
• Experience with MySQL and Linux
• Proficient understanding of Gitlab
• Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills and experience
