POSITION INFO:
Our client is a well-established retail group known for delivering fresh, high-quality products and outstanding service to local communities across South Africa. The Bakery Manager will oversee all daily operations of the retail bakery department. This includes managing production and stock, leading a dedicated team, ensuring strict adherence to hygiene and food safety standards, and driving departmental profitability. Key responsibilities Plan, organize, and oversee daily bakery operations, including production, packaging, and product display. Manage, schedule, train, and mentor bakery staff while driving performance and operational standards. Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure strict compliance with health, sanitation, and food safety regulations. Monitor inventory levels, order ingredients and supplies, and collaborate with suppliers to source quality stock. Maintain high product quality and freshness through standardized recipes, proper baking techniques, and rotation. Track sales performance, analyze operational trends, and implement strategies to increase revenue and profitability. Drive marketing initiatives, handle customer inquiries and special orders, and deliver exceptional service. Oversee the continuous cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of workstations, storage areas, and equipment. Requirements Grade 12. Proven track record of experience managing a bakery department. Valid Food Handler's License \/ certification. Sound knowledge of commercial baking techniques, ingredients, and recipe standardization. Prior experience with stock management, operational scheduling, and supplier liaison. Attributes Strong leadership, management, and team-building capabilities. Ability to work efficiently and remain calm under high-pressure retail conditions. Outstanding problem-solving skills and strong operational insight. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Salary Market-related and negotiable, depending on experience.
