Banking Team Leader

SUMMARY:
Our client, a leading organisation within the insurance sector, is seeking an experienced Banking Team Leader to manage the daily operations of its Finance Banking team. This role is responsible for driving operational efficiency, ensuring accurate financial processing and reporting, building strong stakeholder relationships, and fostering a culture of excellence within the finance function.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Finance Banking team and ensure delivery against team objectives. Oversee daily cash planning activities. Review the processing and allocation of insurance receipts. Oversee local and foreign payment processing and approvals. Review accounting journals and banking transactions for accuracy and completeness. Manage business credit card expenditure reporting and reconciliations. Provide oversight of banking platform administration and support for online banking users. Review bank and clearing account reconciliations. Prepare and maintain banking reconciliation dashboards and ageing reports. Manage monthly VAT reporting and VAT submissions. Coordinate year-end audit deliverables and support audit processes. Develop, maintain, and enforce accounting policies and procedures. Identify and implement improvements to finance systems, tools, and operational processes. Lead, mentor, and develop team members to support individual and team growth. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Job Experience and Skills Required: BCom Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum 5 years' experience within financial operations and\/or banking. At least 3 years' experience managing and leading a team. Experience implementing and improving financial processes. Knowledge of accounting systems and ERP platforms, with SAP experience advantageous. Strong understanding of banking operations. reconciliations, and financial controls. Experience managing audit requirements and compliance activities. Competency Requirements: Strong leadership and people management skills. High attention to detail and accuracy.
