JOB SUMMARY:
A leader in the Pulp and Paper Industry requires the services of a Boiler Plant Operator in the Kempton Park area

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Role and Responsibilities

Ensure and efficient safe operation of the boiler plant.

The successful candidate should have sufficient understanding and experience of boiler plant operations and processes required to ensure the smooth operational running. Duties and responsibilities include:

Adhere to Health and Safety regulations
Maintain safe work practices and good housekeeping in the boiler plant.
Be alert and maintain situational awareness.
Update log book and record all actions of the boiler plant
Execution boiler operator plant schedules
Boiler start-up and maintain steam pressure at all time
Operate at correct coal bed thickness is maintained
Ensure water levels are maintained in the boiler and hot well
Check the water softener and ensure its functional
Carry out hardness tests on the softener water and ensure the water is soft
Check the brine tank level and make sure it is at a working level and saturated
Perform sootblows
Record all shift events on the shift book and shift handover is signed off.
General plant inspection, steam leaks, air leaks, abnormal vibrations
General Housekeeping and 5s for the boiler plant

Preferred Skills

Grade 12/ N3 certificate
Relevant Qualification or Certification is preferred (Boiler operation etc.)
At least 3-5 years’ experience in boiler plant operation
Computer proficiency: packages required: MS Office with Excel
Ability to work under pressure without supervision
Good communication skills both written and verbal
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to multi-task and manage a demanding workload in a pressurized environment

Ability to effectively communicate with people on all levels
Be self-motivated and results driven
